The Matterhorn Store was created on request of the company mainly as a way to sell the Active 10 device and accessories directly to customers rather then through retail outlets. The main concern was the ability to easily manage and forfill these orders, for both the customer and the owners.
The choice to use OSCommerce allowed us to make the site very rapidly and make changes to the site for the owner at a far greater pace then if it were a from scratch system. The payment system of choice was PayPal which was easily encorporated as a production payment gateway, utilising their API as the cost of an SSL certificate was not warrented until the site was profitable.
The site is in English and Dutch (default) as it is designed to mainly be used within the Netherlands. The apropriate taxes etc are applied to orders. Full invoice and packing slips are produced to make delivery easy. After some quick tutorials the owner can make all the changes needed to keep the site up to date, including adding new products, special offers, descriptions and stock.
